Biography: Karl Lagerfeld

 Karl Otto Lagerfeldt





German fashion designer, born on September 10, 1993, in Hamburg. Altough he is known to insist that no one knows his real birth date. Karl grew up in a wealthy family; his father was businessman and his mother was selling lingerie. His original name was Lagerfeldt with a "t", but he changed it to sound better. 




After attending private school in Paris and 
winning the coats category in a design competition in 1955 Karl was hired as Pierre Balmain's assistant, he staied there for 3 year and then he moved to Jean Patou where he was designing 2 haute couture collections per year for 5 years. Later, in 1963 he began designing for Tiziani, in 1964 began to freelance for French fashion house Chloé. 

Karl worked for Chloé since 1964 until 1978 and then again in 1992 untill 1997. He also collaborated with Fendi in 1972. 



























The beginning of his relationship with Chanel fashion house was in 1983. 
He also worked for H&M (2004), Hogan (2011), Macy's (2011) and many more collaborations.

Karl is also a photographer, he has done many magazine editorials and fashion films such as his last one Reincarnation  for Chanel with Cara Delevigne.
